Whether you're deep into Naruto Kayou or exploring the expanding world of My Little Pony Moon Edition, a handful of cards consistently rise to the top of every collector's want list. Here's a breakdown of what's worth chasing — and why.
Art Rare (AR) cards made their Naruto Kayou debut in Series 2, and they immediately became the most visually distinct cards in the set. The artwork extends beyond the traditional card border in a panoramic format that showcases scenes from the series like nothing below SSR can match.
GaaraAR leads the AR lineup with his signature sand armour rendered in a full desert palette that fills every edge of the card. Naruto UzumakiAR captures Nine-Tails chakra mode in a way that practically glows off the surface. And Sasuke UchihaAR rounds out the most-wanted trio — Sharingan activated, artwork that demands a top-loader and a centrepiece spot in any binder.
Pull rates for ARs are low, and sealed Series 2 stock is thinning. If you're hunting singles, expect to pay a premium that only grows over time.
The Shining Gold Rare (SGR) slot is the chase pull of every Moon Edition booster box. Gold foil treatment across the entire card surface, intricate character artwork, and a feel in hand that instantly separates them from everything else in the set.
Princess Twilight SparkleSGR is the flagship SGR of ME01 — the card every new collector asks about first. Rainbow DashSGR is arguably the most striking in terms of colour and composition, with the gold foil complementing her colour scheme better than any other character in the set.
ME01 is still accessible in sealed form, but SGR singles are already at solid premiums on the secondary market. Sealed boxes give you the best chance at one, but buying the specific single is still the most efficient route if you know exactly which you're after.
Secret Cards (SC) are the rarest slot in Moon Edition — rarer than SGRs, featuring unique artwork that exists nowhere else in the entire print run. Princess Twilight Sparkle SCSC sits at the very top of the ME01 collector hierarchy. The artwork is completely distinct from her SGR version, and the pull rate makes a box-hit feel genuinely special.
SCs are the last cards to complete a master ME01 set. Most serious collectors end up buying singles rather than gambling on sealed — the variance simply doesn't justify it unless you're opening for the experience.
Happy hunting.
